Verizon Wireless Set To Rollout 4G in 2010

Verizon Wireless completed its first successful Long Term Evolution (LTE) Fourth Generation (4G) data call in Boston based on the 3GPP Release 8 standard; the company also announced that it had earlier completed the first LTE 4G data call based on the 3GPP Release 8 standard in Seattle.

While Verizon previously disclosed its intentions to test the 4G standard in the two cities, the carrier had not provided details on the trials until now.

The tests involved streaming video, file uploads and downloads, and Web browsing. Interestingly, Verizon also said it placed voice calls using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to enable voice transmissions over the LTE 4G network, though the carrier has said in the past that it plans to keep most voice traffic on its existing CDMA 1x network.

Smart tags in Microsoft Word

Smart tags in Microsoft Office Word

With smart tags enabled, Word attempts to recognize certain types of data in a document (for example, dates or names) and automatically makes such text a smart tag, visually indicated as a purple dotted underline. Clicking on a smart tag is the selection-based search command to bring up a list of possible actions for that data type.

As an example, in Microsoft Word the words "John Smith" would be recognized as a personal name and smart tagged. The list of actions available when clicked might be Open Contact, Schedule a Meeting, Add to Contacts, or Insert Address.

Words for Today...Term of Technologies..

 Absolute reference

An address or pointer that does not change. For example, in a spreadsheet, a cell with an absolute reference does not change even if copied elsewhere. Contrast with relative reference.

 Relative reference

An address or pointer that changes when the target item is moved or the relationship to it has changed. For example, in a spreadsheet, a cell with a relative reference changes its formula when copied elsewhere. Contrast with absolute reference.

My Opinion about Internet Business...

The Internet is one of the newest and fastest growing markets. Advertising, electronic commerce, online banking and online gambling have raised debate about the future economy. According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary 7th Edition, business means the activities of making, buying, selling, or supplying goods or services for money. In the new generation, people tend to expand their business through internet which is called online business. However, people are question how are businesses evolving to target the online community and to meet the demands of the new technologies.

Nowadays, people were exposed to the social network in the internet. The common social networks are Facebook, Myspace and Bebo. For some of the user, they have their own objective when they join this social network. For example, a business person who joins the Facebook, he or she not only wants to make online friends but they also want to market their product and find the buyer.

As companies develop their own communities, this brings some power to social networks like MySpace, Bebo and Facebook. Unfortunately, not all fans will interact with business created communities –so the business people will need to quickly distinguish how their community base is different perhaps in a different part of the marketing funnel but still valuable. They need to promote aggressively their product and give the good services.

Then, some of the business people who want to expand their business through internet which is website think that online business start-ups don't need a business plan. Having a proper plan for the Internet business can have the competitive edge it needs. There are many great website on the Internet that has great contents, great artwork and a fantastic design. The example of the website that promotes online business is “Lelong.com”.

Many people are under the impression that to make a lot of money from the Internet is to simply set up a website on the Internet. However, if you have the determination and the effort, you can certainly make your online business an incredible success and then only your business can make money in your sleep. On the other hand, the business website also will have their own follower when they able to get the online community’s trust.

After that, the business people who are involved with the online business should always aware and alert with the latest technologies. It is because, only with the latest technologies, the process of selling, buying and also the transaction process will be easier. It also can save the time of the seller and the buyer. For instance, for most computer users, the (magnetic) hard disk drive is the last thing they think about, that is, until it fails. With flash-based solid state drives getting more affordable, the industry is looking at a likely replacement for the HDD.

Not only have that, the online business people also need to use the latest technology in term of software. Only with the latest technologies like Widows 7, Twitter Telepathy, and many more, they can run slightly with the technologies. People nowadays want something that can make their life easier.  The business people need to update with the latest technology to make sure their business get many profit.

As a conclusion, business people can use online community and also the latest technologies to develop their business associated with their stores. The platform has many features and was relatively easy to implement, earning and to make money with it.

PODCAST????

A podcast is a series of digital media files, either audio or video, that is released episodically and downloaded through web syndication.

The mode of delivery is what differentiates podcasts from other ways of accessing media files over the Internet, such as simple download or streamed webcasts: special client software applications known as podcatchers (like iTunes, Zune, Juice or Winamp) are used to automatically identify and download new files in the series when they are released, by accessing a centrally-maintained web feed that lists all files currently associated with that particular series.

New files can thus be downloaded automatically by the podcatcher and stored locally on the user's computer or other device for offline use, making it simpler for a user to access episodic content.
Like the term broadcast, podcast can refer either to an ongoing series of episodes of particular program or to the method by which they are syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting. A podcaster is the person who creates the content.

Chain Letter

Definition

Chain letters are malicious letters sent in a chain from users to users. The contents of the chain letters could be of a threat or sympathy. Chain letter is considered as a big problem, as it wastes users' time and network space/disk. Chain letters always give promising good luck to those who continue the chain. Most of the file is headers from forwarded messages.

How To Detect A Chain Letter

Chain letters all have a similar element such as follows:

a. A Hook

A hook is to catch your interest and get you to read the rest of the letter. Hooks used to be "Make Money Fast" or "Get Rich" or similar statements related to making money for little or no work

b. A Threat

A threat warns you about the terrible things that will happen if you do not maintain the chain. However, others play on greed or sympathy to get you to pass the letter on.

c. A Request

A traditional request is usually in the form of asking you to mail a dollar to the top ten names on the letter and then pass it on. The electronic request simply admonishes you to "Distribute this letter to as many people as possible."

Examples of Chain Letters
Example 1

Make nine unaltered copies of this note, and send each copy to a friend or stranger within nine days of receiving this. This completed, you will have received not only luck and positive karma, but you have been PERMANENTLY released from the obligation to send another chain -letter.

Comparison Between Search Engines Lycos VS Bing

History

Lycos began as a search engine research project by Dr. Michael Loren Mauldin of Carnegie Mellon University in 1994.Lycos then enjoyed several years of growth and, in 1999, became the most visited online destination in the world, with a global presence in more than 40 countries. Lycos was sold to Terra Networks of Spain in May 2000 for $5.4 billion, forming a new company Terra Lycos and maintaining a position as one of the world's largest Internet companies. In October 2004, Lycos was sold by Terra's parent company Telefonica to Daum Communications Corporation, the second largest Internet portal in Korea, becoming once again Lycos Inc. Until now, Lycos is still active.

Bing formerly known as Live Search, Windows Live Search and MSN Search is the current web search engine or advertised as a "decision engine" from Microsoft. Unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009 at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego, Bing is a replacement for Live Search. It went fully online on June 3, 2009, with a preview version released on June 1, 2009. In its first few weeks Bing was successful in gaining some market share.

Notable changes include the listing of search suggestions in real time as queries are entered and a list of related searches called "Explorer pane" on the left side of search results based on semantic technology from Powerset, which Microsoft purchased in 2008. Bing also includes the ability to Save & Share search histories via Windows Live SkyDrive, Facebook and email.
On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search.

Interface

Lycos offers a Web search engine, subject directories, and several other services. In April 1999, it made its main directory a version of the Open Directory. In terms of general searching, Lycos made significant changes during the summer of 1997, tossing out their old search system for a new one. Lycos interface was quite not attractive because there is no colourful background. For me, I love search engine that offer the beautiful scenery or image and not only the words.

Only ten hits at a time are displayed. Lycos displays the title, a keyword-in-context extract, and the URL. No date, language, or file size information is available. The "Sidesearch" (formerly "Fast Forward") link after the title opens up the result on the right and move the search results to a frame or pane on the left. As some point in spring 2001, Lycos added a translation capability, with a link after each record and directly at translation.lycos.com. It uses the same system software that AltaVista uses. Then, Lycos is not case sensitive. All search terms look for a match regardless of upper and lower case are searched.

Bing interface was quite attractive compared to Lycos interface. Bing was always changing their background image. The images are mostly of remarkable places in the world. The background image also contains information about the elements shown in the image. I can view the information by hovering over the image. The background images can be switched off and switched on.

It is so nice to look and the user did not feel boring when use this search engine. Bing also have left side navigation pane. Includes navigation and on results pages, related searches and prior searches. In addition to its tool for searching web pages, Bing also provides the following search offerings such as health, images, maps, news, shopping and many more.

Time
For Lycos search engine, in the advanced search there is a URL/Site limit for restricting to or excluding specific domains. There are also 47 language limits. Only one language limit at a time can be used. Unlike on AlltheWeb, a language limit cannot be combined with a field search. For me, Lycos search engine is quite fast and easy to search the information that we want.
The Bing best match feature cuts down the number of clicks and gets me to my final destination faster. Best Match results include customer service numbers for retail sites, the ability to track a package right from the search page, deep links to common pages within the site and much more. Bing examines what you are typing in the search box and will automatically suggest similar terms or common refinements related to the term you are typing. So that, it will save our time and my work can be done on the time.
As a conclusion, both search engines are good and have their own specialties. We as the user have to know which search engine that suitable to use and so that, it will not waste our time.

What is e-learning?? Any idea....

E-learning (or sometimes electronic learning) is a term which is commonly used, but does not have a common definition. Most frequently it seems to be used for web-based distance education, with no face-to-face interaction. However, also much broader definitions are common.
For example, it may include all types of technology enhanced learning (TEL), where technology is used to support the learning process. Although pedagogy is usually not part of the definition, some authors do include it. For example in this definition, where e-learning is said to be: "pedagogy empowered by digital technology" .

It is important to realize that the term e-learning is ambiguous. It is nearly impossible to define what it is, as it has different meanings to different people . Furthermore, it is often used interchangeably with various other related terms, such as distance learning, distributed learning, and electronic learning
The meaning of the term also seems to be dependent on the context in which it is used. In companies, it often refers to the strategies that use the company network to deliver training courses to employees. Lately in most Universities, e-learning is used to define a specific mode to attend a course or programmes of study where the students rarely or never meet face-to-face, nor access on-campus educational facilities, because they study online.
